Internet is the most popular guest we have in our life everyday, each hour. It is no surprise that in 2017, internet users were increased as well as it did in Europe. According to We are Social’s Digital in 2017 Global Overview report here is some statistics about internet usage in 2017.
Top Ten Internet Using Countries in Africa
Nigeria is the country that has the most internet users in Africa, in 2017. When we look at the populations of the countries it seem its rank is due to its population. However Kenya is in the first order with a 89,4% penetration.
When we look at the big picture in Africa,
In total 1231 million population, there are 362 million internet users which indicates 29% penetration. It is less then half of the European’s penetration.
There were 170 million active Social Media Users with a 14% penetration in 2017, in Africa. It is less then Europe nearly four times.
Furthermore information about social media users is there were 160,207,000 Facebook users in total 1,246,504,865 population.
In addition 150 million people accessed their social media accounts on their mobile devices. It is almost half of the European continent.
When we look at the annual growth in Africa what we see is the increase in internet users, active social media users and active mobile social users.
There is totally 4% (13 million people) growth in internet users in Africa, in 2017.
Global Browser Market Share in 2017
According to Stat Counter’s report Chrome is in the first order with having a 461.4% percentage market share. Not like Europe in Africa Opera is the second with a 21.47% percentage between other browsers. It it is still smaller than the Chrome’s range in the market. Chrome had more then the half of the market share in 2017. Pale Moon, QQ Browser and Sogou Explorer has the smallest range with a 0.01% share in the browser market in Africa.
Chrome is the champion in either mobile;
Competing with Opera Chrome has won the race with a slight difference; 36.84% range in mobil as well. IE Mobile, Safari and Blackberry are the browsers having the least share in the mobile browser market with ranges, 1.38%, 4.86%, 1,28% respectively.
