History of the Pakistan Flag

The story of the Pakistani flag begins with the period when he left India. On 11 August 1947, the founder of the state, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, requested a flag design for the newly established state. The designed Pakistani flag is largely similar to the flag of the Islamic Union, a white moon star in the middle of the green ground.

During this period, leaders representing the various political organizations of Muslims in South Asia organize a meeting. At the end of the negotiations, the Organization of the Islamic Union is established as the representative of Muslims in India. When the Pakistani state was founded on August 14, 1947, the flag of the Islamic Union became the national flag of this new Islamic state. Only a vertical strip is added to the left side representing the state and minorities.

National Anthem of Pakistan

Pakistan has no national anthem since the independence date. In this process, Pakistanis settle for ‘Pakistan Azadi’, which means Free Pakistan, as the national anthem. After a while, Muhammad Ali Jinnah thinks that Pakistan should have a national anthem and he asks the poet Jagannath Azad, a Hindu, to write Pakistan’s national anthem. His intention to choose a non-Muslim poet is to emphasize the national unity of the people of Pakistan, who have various ethnic identities and religions.

A few days later, Pakistan’s new national anthem starts playing in every home on Pakistani radios. However, Jagannath Azad’s anthem is not liked by many in Pakistan, and 18 months later the government organizes a contest to write a new national anthem. In this contest, the author of his first selected poem will be rewarded with 5000 rupees. In addition, the best composition for the selected starter will be awarded 5000 rupees to the musician is announced. Finally, in August 1954, the winner of the competition became clear and the national anthem of Pakistan was formalized. The author of the anthem is Abu Al-Asar Hafeez Jalandhari and his composer is Ahmed Ghulamali Chagla from Pakistani musician.
